FDA and Manufacturers Issuing Food Recalls After Listeria Infections from Caramel Apples Grow As of the end of December, at least 32 people in the US have become ill after eating listeria-contaminated prepackaged caramel apples, and 6 people have died. Twin Cities-Area Company Issues Food Recall After Listeria Detected A Minnesota-based company issued a major food recall on October 7th after the company detected listeria in their meat products. Buddy’s Kitchen, which distributes several meat and poultry products to major retailers as well as airlines, issued a food recall for 62,488 pounds of meat and poultry breakfast items which were distributed between July 16th and September 25th.
