Food Poisoning Victims with Staph Infection Leads to Protein Powder Recall
A recent protein powder recall was issued by Project Healthy Living for it’s Aloha Premium Protein Powders after the company received 17 reports of consumers falling ill with “transient gastrointestinal symptoms consistent with staphylococcal food poisoning.” These powders were distributed nationally between November 2014 and January 2015. The entire line of protein powders, from 14-servings to single servings, in both vanilla and chocolate, are under product recall due to the potential staph infection.
The company has also temporarily halted production of the protein powders while it investigates its manufacturing facilities to find the source of the staph infection.
Aloha began immediate testing of its protein powders after receiving complaints from 17 customers about gastrointestinal problems. The company also stated that customers with the protein powders should immediately stop consuming the product, and contact the company through AlohaRecall.com for store credit. The protein powder recall has, so far, been voluntary on the part of Aloha and Project Healthy Living.
SC Food Poisoning Victims Deserve Justice
Food poisoning from a staph infection can display with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, retching, abdominal cramping, and prostration. In more severe cases there may be headache, muscle cramping, and transient changes in blood pressure and pulse. Although healthy adults rarely suffer more serious consequences from such infections, it is important to see your doctor immediately if the gastrointestinal symptoms do not go away after 4 days. Any South Carolina residents who have fallen ill after consuming the protein powder should contact a SC food poisoning attorney to discuss the facts of their case and whether they may be entitled to compensation for medical bills as well as pain and suffering.
