In June, the company stopped sales of Actos in Germany and France because of increased pressure from regulators.  In the U.S., sales have continued, but the FDA has issued warnings about the cancer risk.

Physicians are now being told not to prescribe Actos for patients who currently have, or in the past have had, bladder cancer.

Actos does help control blood sugar, and has very little side effects while improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Actos became the number one Diabetes pill after Avandia was found to increase heart attacks four years ago.  Actos sales from that time till last year jumped from $2.9 to $4.3 billion.
