Woman Hospitalized in Fuel Gel Accident

A woman in Massachusetts was hospitalized in a fuel gel accident that is the latest in a disturbing trend of exploding firepots.

According to the Patriot Ledger, the woman was at a social gathering when she went to refill a pot of bug repellant fuel gel.

But as she poured the fuel gel into the lit ceramic pot, the pot and gel exploded shooting flames onto her.

The Ledger reported the woman’s clothes caught on fire and she suffered multiple burn injuries. She was taken to a hospital and was reportedly in good condition.

The Massachusetts fuel gel accident is one of many that has resulted in series of burn injuries, consumer warnings, and even led some retail giants to discontinue the sale of some products.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is examining the safety issues related to firepots and fuel gels.
