Woman Claims Dentist Pulled 18 More Teeth than Necessary

A woman in North Carolina has filed a lawsuit against a Dentist in Durham alleging medical malpractice and battery.

The woman claims she had 24 teeth pulled from her mouth instead of the 6 she agreed to have removed.

Four years ago the then 18-year-old patient went to the Dental facility to have four wisdom teeth and two molars pulled.  However, when she woke up from the sedation, she realized she was missing the majority of her teeth.

A few days after the surgery, the woman said she and her boyfriend called the dental facility to find out what went wrong.  They never spoke with the dentist and she later found out she had been discharged from the practice because of her complaints.

The woman was left with a total of eight teeth, six on the bottom and two on top.  She can only wear her top dentures because the bottom ones don’t fit.  As a result, she is unable to eat certain foods.

She also claims she cannot teach her son how to brush his teeth because she does not have any.

The woman stated the extractions have caused her “excruciating pain.”   She said her jaw locks up on a regular basis and also acquired a severe infection in her mouth.
