People with salmonella infections often have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever as symptoms. Pets with salmonella infections display similar symptoms, including diarrhea, fever, and vomiting, as well as lethargy. Infected pets can be carriers of salmonella poisoning to humans.
