Since 1975 cancer in has increased in American Children especially childhood leukemia and brain cancer. A t the same time, approximately 80,000 chemicals have been produced in the U.S. to create commonly-used products. These include known carcinogens such as asbestos, formaldehyde, lead, cadmium, trichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride, with practically no government oversight. Prescription Drug Addicted Births on the Rise

According to , a startling new epidemic reminiscent of the 1980’s is occurring across the country. Doctors say they are seeing more babies than ever before born addicted to prescription drug medications. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reported prescription drug overdose deaths in Florida are up a staggering 265% since 2003. Teenager Awarded $4.4 million in Electrocution Lawsuit

  A South Carolina jury has awarded $4.4 million to a teenager who was severely injured after he was electrocuted by a downed power line that did not shut off properly like it had been designed to do. The electrocution lawsuit was filed by Xavier Massey against Duke Power Co. for injuries he sustained following a car accident in 2006 when Massey was 13. Nursing Home Abuse: Patient Falls 45 Times!

A family is suing a nursing home near Montreal after they say hidden-camera footage shows their family member with Parkinson's and dementia falling 45 times over a six-month period. The family says they became suspicious after noticing several scars on his body one time they visited him. $1.25 Million Awarded for Medical Malpractice

A 67-year-old woman from Ithaca,New York was awarded $1.25 million after a jury found her surgeon negligent. She entered the hospital in 2007 complaining of an upset stomach.  She was then informed her gallbladder had to be removed. During the surgery, the woman’s bowel was unintentionally cut.  Almost immediately after the surgery, the woman became severely ill, showing several signs of infection. NC governor vetoes medical malpractice reform bill

In a surprising defeat for Republican legislators, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue (D- N.C.) vetoed Senate Bill 33, a medical malpractice reform bill that would have limited noneconomic damages at $500,000 regardless of the injury.  Many opponents challenged the bill, including one prominent physician who appeared in many television ads and press releases. Woman Awarded Settlement after Husband killed by Semi-Truck

A woman and her two sons in California were awarded $6.7 million in Fresno County, after her husband was killed by a tractor-trailer while filling a bus he had been driving with fuel. The wrongful death award also included over $500,000 for a nephew who saw the incident occur and as a result has suffered from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. NC Woman Weds 1 Year after Paralyzing Accident

The North Carolina woman whose marriage was put off last year when a bachelorette party pool accident left her paralyzed, is getting married this week. Twenty-five-year-old Rachelle Friedman will go down the aisle this Friday tying the knot to Chris Chapman who has waited to exchange vows since the accident. Chrysler Recalls Ram Pickup Trucks

Chrysler announced they will recall more than 242,000 Ram pickup trucks for a problem with the steering system. The recall affects certain Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from the 2008 to 2011 model years. The Ram is Chrysler's best-selling vehicle. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the vehicle was recalled because a part near the left wheel can easily break and cause drivers to lose steering control, which leads to crashes. 2 Plead Guilty to Animal Cruelty after Having 80 Cats in Cars

Two elderly New York sisters have pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges after they reportedly had 80 cats in their two vehicles. The two were arrested last October in Vermont.  Authorities say they were casino internet driving around the area to different shelters trying to put the cats up for adoption. Both women plead guilty earlier this week to 13 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
