Two elderly New York sisters have pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges after they reportedly had 80 cats in their two vehicles.
The two were arrested last October in Vermont. Authorities say they were casino internet driving around the area to different shelters trying to put the cats up for adoption.
Both women plead guilty earlier this week to 13 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
The Bennington Banner said the sisters received 18-month deferred sentences. They are forbidden from having animals in the future and must undergo mental health treatment.
Officials say they have found homes for the majority of the cats.
